Display Design for improved efficiency and reduced cost

Reduce your exhibit weight to significantly reduce your costs - Trade Show Exhibit Weight is directly proportional to the Freight Handling Charge. During the design of a large exhibit (30' x 100') we advised a customer to use conventional hardware and materials in a new and innovative weight. Typically, a fully enclosed exhibit this size would fill 3-4 moving trucks and weigh 60-80,000 lbs. We were able to limit the exhibit weight to 38,500 lbs. and greatly reduce the number of trucks required to move this exhibit and space to store this exhibit as well. Since this exhibit can be moved in two trucks, trucking costs are minimized. Freight handling and storage costs are reduced by 50%. With careful planning this exhibitor is saving between $12,000 and $24,000 per year.

Configure your lighting for efficient installation and dismantle to significantly reduce your electrician labor costs - As we were guiding the design of a large exhibit with 84 light fixtures around its perimeter, we insisted that the lights be permanently mounted to the exhibit structure, and this structure designed so that the light fixtures would travel safely in place during shipping. With the fixtures permanently mounted, the electricians must only be in the exhibit to "plug-in" the structure. There are no labor hours for packing the light fixtures, and almost none for install. Otherwise, since each fixture is 13’ in the air, ladder climbing time would be substantial. Estimated cost savings for this project:

  • Electrical labor to install fixtures: 7 hrs * $86 / hr = $602
  • Electrical labor to pack fixtures: 4.5 hrs * $86 / hr = $387
  • Total Savings – almost $1000 per show = $989 / show

With careful attention paid to the design of your trade show exhibit booth, your costs will be significantly reduced, and your trade show marketing ROI significantly increased.
